<\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Walthorpe Sounds ist eine junge Waltroper Musikformation, die sich musikalisch grenz\u00fcberschreitend bewegt. Die Gruppe vereint Elemente des afrikanischen Highlife mit Rap-Passagen sowie groovenden Rock- und Popballaden.<\/p>\n<p>Obwohl die Band neu in der Szene ist, sind viele ihrer Mitglieder keine Unbekannten. Leadgitarrist Oliver Sorge zum Beispiel war 2017 beim Waltroper Parkfest mit auf der B\u00fchne und bereicherte die Jim Wayne Experience mit seinen Gitarrenriffs.<\/p>\n<p>Gesanglich erweitert wird die Gruppe durch Abdofatah Basar Osman. Der S\u00e4nger und Perkussionist stammt aus einer alten somalischen Musikerfamilie. Aufgewachsen ist er in Marka,\u00a0unweit der somalischen Hauptstadt Mogadishu. Seine Lieder lassen sich als Balladen verstehen. Mit seinen\u00a0Texten orientiert er sich an traditionellen Erz\u00e4hlungen und setzt sich mit aktuellen Themen sowie mit dem\u00a0Alltag auseinander.<\/p>\n<p>Erg\u00e4nzt wird die Gruppe durch Yeranuhin Stepanyan (Keyboard und Gesang) und Ara Babujyan (Gesang). Beide waren mit ihren Orchestern auch schon europaweit unterwegs. Zur Perkussion Abteilung geh\u00f6rt ferner Tiblts Sium aus Eritrea. Den Rhythmus unterst\u00fctzen au\u00dferdem Bernd Thomassen mit seinen Blue Notes am Bass sowie Bernd Sch\u00e4fer an der Rhythmusgitarre.<\/p>\n<p>Mit ihrem Namen Walthorpe Sounds verweist die Gruppe einmal auf das Traditionelle und ihren geografischen Bezug. Walthorpe ist ja bekanntlich die erste historisch verbriefte Bezeichnung f\u00fcr das ehemalige Dorf Waltrop, und mit Sounds auf ihre internationale Zusammensetzung.
