Ihren Auftritt auf der 1. Mai Kundgebung im Ruhrfestspielhaus in Recklinghausen, nutzte die Waltroper Tanzgruppe Ojin (Überlebende), um auf die aktuelle dramatische Situation in Aleppo hinzuweisen. Nachfolgend ein Auszug aus der Rede:

[What you are going to see now is a folkloric cultural dance that we call Dabkeh , it is a main tradition in our celebrations , weddings, parties and Birthdays.
And it is very hard for us to be performing this symbolic happy dance here and now, while at the same moment the city of Aleppo is being attacked and destroyed by Assad regime and it’s supports. Many people are passing away by every minute; children, women, humanitarian workers and doctors. But we will try to present this show despite all the pain and sorrow to show the other face of us. And please let us gift this dance to the pride of revolution and Syria, Aleppo City.
